What TBED Approaches are Successful in the Current Economy?
What TBED Approaches are Successful in the Current Economy?
We're confronting almost unprecedented problems on the national, state and local levels. Technology-based economic development (TBED) can provide the leadership and long-term solutions that states, universities and communities need to ensure our future is one of prosperity rather than problems.
On Oct 21-23, the 300+ participants from more than 40 states that may attend SSTI's annual conference will debate and identify smart approaches for promoting regional growth through science and innovation that can provide leadership into the next economy. The proof is packed into this year's conference agenda: more than a dozen real life examples that are TBED's cutting edge survivors of a truly hard knock economy. For example:
- Participants will have a direct give-and-take dialogue with 6 award-winning state and local strategies for addressing the key elements of a strong regional innovation system:
- Expanding the Research Infrastructure
- Commercializing Research
- Building Entrepreneurial Capacity
- Increasing Access to Capital
- Enhancing the Science and Technology Workforce
- Improving Competitiveness of Existing Industries
- We'll debate the pros and cons - and pros again - for deploying alternative approaches to state and regional TBED that draw more extensively on the experience, talent and financial resources of the private sector to design and delivery regional innovation support and other TBED services.
- You'll hear an in-depth examination of one state's 20-year evolution and success in establishing well-grounded and ground-breaking approaches to delivering a comprehensive portfolio of TBED programs and policies.
- In a dynamically interactive, real-time session, we'll explore practical and proven Web 2.0 Tools as applied to TBED - maximizing every opportunity to connect your organization's services with your regional innovators, researchers, and tech entrepreneurs.
- You'll learn how several programs are encouraging risk-taking and tech entrepreneurship in this most risk-adverse time - and how they are yielding new job creating, wealth generating tech firms as a result!
All of these insights into real solutions driven by innovation and smart TBED policies and programs are awaiting attendees of SSTI's annual conference Oct 21-23 in Overland Park, KS. The full conference program and registration information is available online: http://www.ssticonference.org.
Early registration discounts are available until Sep 29. Less than two weeks away!
