The Tennessee Innovation Exchange (TNIX) is a statewide initiative designed to make it easier for companies, entrepreneurs, and investors to connect with university research expertise across Tennessee. In this recent TBED Community of Practice webinar, speakers Chuck Layne of LaunchTN and Tom Kissane of Halo Sciences explained how they partnered with six research universities to build a shared digital platform that supports university-industry collaboration and commercialization.
TNIX serves as a searchable digital front door to participating Tennessee universities, providing a single place to highlight faculty expertise, research facilities, intellectual property, and partnership opportunities. Companies and other industry partners can also post technology needs and collaboration requests directly to the network, helping reduce common barriers to forming university-industry partnerships.
For TBED practitioners focused on strengthening regional innovation systems, TNIX offers a strong example of how shared infrastructure and digital tools can improve visibility, collaboration, and connections across research institutions.
