Focusing on the aerospace and defense sector of Connecticut's business, the Connecticut Center for Manufacturing Supply Chain Integration (CMSCI) was formed in 2005 to stimulate Connecticut companies to effectively compete in a more complex supply chain and gain advantage through both their individual and collective capabilities.
To date, 244 process improvement projects have been funded at 76 Connecticut aerospace and defense companies. These projects have improved lead time by 53 percent, cycle time by 37 percent, changeover time by 50 percent, quality level by 48 percent, and space utilization by 39 percent. These improvements have increased efficiencies, raised competitiveness, improved customer satisfaction, and allowed companies to take on new businesses, adding 686 high-paying jobs to the Connecticut economy during this period.
