More than Just a Typical Conference!

September 28, 2011

Beyond the numerous breakout sessions and insightful plenary sessions, SSTI's 15th Annual Conference offers attendeesseveral activities that other conferences typically don't offer including networking with other practitioners at some of the city's finest restaurants (Dine A-Rounds), maintaining your normal exercise regimen (a morning 5k run/walk) and sharpening your mind (morning Hatha Yoga).

Dine A-Round Columbus
On Tuesday November 8, take a break from the typical conference experience and network over dinner with old and new friends by attending one of six Dine A-Rounds. Our local host has lined up some of the best places to eat in Columbus offering conference goers a variety of culinary options at various price points. Reservations for parties of eight will be for 7:00 PM on Tuesday, Nov. 8. Each attendee is responsible for his/her own bill and gratuity. The six restaurant options will be posted shortly at ssticonference.org. Advance registration also will be made available on the conference website.

Morning 5K Run/Walk
Back by popular demand! Join fellow fitness-minded conference attendees for a sunrise walk or run on Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 6:30 AM. SSTI's Morning 5K is an excellent opportunity to kick start your conference experience by immersing yourself in the City's downtown, while maintaining your normal exercise regimen. A local host/guide will lead runners a long a scenic 5k run that highlights several of Columbus' landmarks and new attractions. Route maps will be provided if you'd prefer to travel at your own pace.

Morning Hatha Yoga
For the fourth straight year, SSTI will host daily, morning yoga classes taught by an experienced local yoga instructor. Whether you are an experienced yoga practitioner or a novice trying yoga for the first time, the morning Hatha Yoga class will start each day at the conference off on the "right foot." This is a slow-paced stretching class incorporating breathing and meditative exercises that provides a good opportunity to learn basic poses, relaxation techniques and become comfortable with yoga. Hatha Yoga is a centuries old practice that can produce powerful results that include waking up your body, sharpening your mind and clarifying your spirit. The classes will be offered at 6:30 AM on Tuesday, Nov. 8 and at 6:15 AM on Wednesday, Nov. 9. No registration is required. Simply show up with a yoga mat or hotel towel.
