SSTI’s Dan Berglund named to NSF Committee on the Future of NSF EPSCoR

August 26, 2021

SSTI President & CEO Dan Berglund is one of 19 national experts selected for the Committee on the Future of NSF EPSCoR (Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research). EPSCoR serves as a fundamental plank in growing the university R&D enterprise for nearly half of the states and strives to increase economic development outcomes for research and broader participation across STEM R&D institutions and professional career pathways.

The committee was convened to guide NSF EPSCoR’s visioning process that will engage with its external stakeholder community to better understand the impacts of NSF EPSCoR’s investment strategies and identify new opportunities for increased success.

“I am happy to be taking on this role that will contribute to the success of the NSF EPSCoR program,” Berglund said. “It is paramount that STEM research and education capacity be strengthened in this country to help ensure growth in the innovation activities that we know are the building blocks of a healthy economy. I look forward to working with the other committee members.”

Administered by the NSF Office of Integrated Activies, EPSCoR leadership plans for the committee to consider written community input as well as conduct listening sessions with key stakeholders before issuing a summary report that will consider novel approaches or changes in the current strategies to increase the research competitiveness of targeted jurisdictions by strengthening STEM capacity and capability.
