IT group names new CEO
The Information Technology Association of Wisconsin said Wednesday that John Gee has been named president and chief executive officer of the association.
Gee replaces William Mortimore, who has been serving as the interim president and CEO for the past two months. Mortimore will remain chairman of the board.
The association said Gee has directly contributed to the development of more than a dozen successful companies since 1993. Most recently, he worked on business development for the Academic Advanced Digital Co-Lab, an organization associated with the University of Wisconsin System, which develops advanced digital learning applications to improve teaching and learning.
Prior to moving to Wisconsin, Gee worked in various technology-related leadership roles in California. He was the founder and director of the NASA Ames Technology Commercialization Center, a business incubator in Sunnyvale, Calif., that assisted many successful new ventures, including eBay and iPrint.
Gee also has experience leading two of his own startups, one having to do with the Web and television convergence and the other Web-based health care, the association said.
The Information Technology Association of Wisconsin was launched in June 2005. It works to foster growth and the competitive strength of the IT sector in Wisconsin.
