NEW FACES

Sarah Clayton Robinson of Portland has been named executive director of Literacy Volunteers of Maine. Robinson has previously served as the Maine donor relations director for Planned Parenthood of Northern New England and held management positions with MBNA.

 

Elizabeth A. Della Valle has been hired by Friends of Midcoast Maine in Camden to lead the organization's smart growth technical assistance program. Della Valle is currently a land planning consultant and has previously worked for the Maine State Planning Office.

At OEST Associates in South Portland: Paul Belle-Isle of Batavia, N.Y., design build superintendent with the construction management team, was previously a project manager for Curti Construction in New York and owned a general contracting business; Stephen Leonard of North Waterboro, plumbing designer, was a self-employed plumbing and heating contractor for 14 years; Matthew Lyle of Portland, electrical engineer, was previously a test engineer at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery; Charles Ryan of Springvale, senior electrical engineer, previously held the same position with BL Companies in Meriden, Conn.; John Scheckel of Gray, registered architect, previously owned his own architectural business in Nutley, N.J.; Randy Underhill of Wells, construction manager in the structural group, was previously with Metso USA in Biddeford as a mechanical installation supervisor.

George M. Dycio has been hired by the Lewiston-Auburn Economic Growth Council as economic development specialist. Dycio was previously town planner for the city of Windham and was planning coordinator for the city of Lewiston's Office of Economic and Community Development from 1988 to 1998.

Mike O'Brien has been hired as service manager for W.H. Demmons in Portland. O'Brien was previously with Siemens Building Technologies.

John K. Hatch of South Portland has joined Pierce Atwood in Portland as an attorney in the firm's litigation practice group. Hatch has previously been a litigator with Friedman, Gaythwaite, Wolf & Leavitt in Portland and McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton in Manchester, N.H.

Nicole Witherbee has joined the Maine Center for Economic Policy as a federal budget analyst and communications coordinator. Witherbee has previously been volunteer programs coordinator for Preble Street in Portland and an adjunct professor at Salem College and at the University of Southern Maine.

PROMOTIONS

With Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution: Julie Cyr of Saco, customer service representative at the Saco branch, joined the bank in 2003 as a teller; Stephanie Bailey of Windham, customer service representative at the South Portland branch, has been with the bank since 2002, most recently as head teller in South Portland.

Greg Antworth has been promoted to service sales engineer with W.H. Demmons in Portland. Antworth, formerly the service manager, has been with the company for 19 years.

Joseph Lee has been appointed interim president of Saint Joseph's College in Standish. Lee has been the college's vice president of enrollment management for the last year and a half and was previously president of Thomas More College in Crestview Hills, Ky.

GENERAL

Elected officers for the American Council of Engineering Companies of Maine: John Nelson of Wright-Pierce in Topsham and Portland, president; Scott Graham of James Sewall Co. in Old Town, president-elect; Brett Hart of James Sewall Co., treasurer; Brian Ames of A/E in Bangor, secretary. Paul Lariviere of Maine Tomorrow in Hallowell has been appointed executive director for the organization.

Larry Robinson, project manager with the Maine Manufacturing Extension Partnership, has been named to the advisory board of the University of Southern Maine's Department of Technology in the School of Applied Science, Engineering and Technology.
