Blanco appointee wants to stay in La. economic post under Jindal

Michael Olivier, Gov. Kathleen Blanco's economic development secretary, said he wants to remain in the cabinet post under Gov.-elect Bobby Jindal.

Olivier said he has pitched himself to Jindal personally and got a favorable response, but no commitment.

Jindal is setting up committees that will give him recommendations on whom to hire for the cabinet jobs, including the one now occupied by Olivier. A Jindal aide said the incoming governor has no timetable for the hires.

Olivier's job pays $246,000 a year, plus $6,000 a year for a car allowance.
