DATELINE: TEMPE, Ariz.
The Arizona Technology Councilannounced today the launch of itsTechTalent Repository(TTR), designed to help Arizona-based companies attract top IT talent from across the nation. The web-based job bank, created in association withIdealHire, was developed in response to the growing demand among Arizona businesses for a talented workforce.
The Tech Talent Repository leverages The PowerMatch(TM) Talent Acquisition and Management process that was developed by IdealHire Technologies Inc., which links employee skills with employer skill needs through simple and cost effective means.
"Talent is the single most critical element of growth for most of our members and those who are looking to bring their technology companies to Arizona," said Donna Kent, former CEO of The Arizona Technology Council. "The Tech Talent Repository project is one way to support the specific needs of the business community that are focused on attracting IT experts to our state."
Recently, the AeA (formerly the American Electronics Association) released itsCyberstate Reportthat announced Arizona's high-tech industry has added 800 jobs to its economy that are high paying, with the average Arizona technology worker earning $67,600 in 2005. As the number of job openings continues to rise, it becomes even more difficult for companies to find the skill set needed from employees because of the shortage of qualified technology workers.
"Companies of all sizes continue to have problems recruiting highly qualified and educated individuals to work for them, whether those individuals are foreign or domestic. This was reflected in the 2.5 percent unemployment rate for computer scientists and the below 2 percent unemployment rate for engineers in 2006," stated William T. Archey, president and CEO of AeA.
