'Come Home to Kansas' Announced by KTEC;
DATELINE: TOPEKA, Kan. Jan. 25
TOPEKA, Kan., Jan. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- The Kansas Technology Enterprise Corporation (KTEC) announced today a "Come Home to Kansas" initiative that focuses on recruiting bioscience and information technology professionals and investors to Kansas. Partners in this project include the Kansas Department of Commerce, the Kansas Bioscience Authority, the Kansas Bioscience Organization and the KTEC PIPELINE.
This initiative is aimed at professionals, graduates, and investors with ties to the state, as well as non-residents who have never lived in Kansas but are looking for "home."
The core of the "Come Home to Kansas" initiative is a one-stop Web site ( http://www.comehometokansas.com/ ), refreshed daily, that aggregates the thousands of current technical job openings in the state. The site also includes business leader and entrepreneur video testimonials, cost of living data, and detail about Kansas' strong network of tech-based economic development resources for entrepreneurs and investors.
"The prime function of the "Come Home to Kansas" Web site is to address the number one issue that bioscience and information technology employers have right now which is talent recruitment," said Tracy Taylor, President and CEO of KTEC. "Our bioscience and information technology companies rely heavily on skilled workers to grow. The companies we work with are devoting significant resources to recruit professionals to the state. This Web site, which went live today, will show in a big way that there are thousands of highly-paid, technical jobs in Kansas and a strong cluster of recognizable bioscience and information technology companies located here."
As well as recruiting talent, the "Come Home to Kansas" program is recruiting investment in bioscience and information technology businesses in the state.
According to Governor Sebelius, "This initiative fits well with Kansas' efforts to bring bioscience and information technology talent to the state. It also complements the recruiting work that colleges and universities are doing to bring back recent graduates. "Come Home to Kansas" is a flagship piece of a coordinated effort."
Program partners will fund in-state and out-of-state advertisements featuring successful entrepreneurs and returning professionals in alumni association publications and selected newspapers over the next year. The advertisements emphasize that Kansas is a place to prosper with its low cost of living and its high quality of life and are aimed at professionals looking for a welcoming, lower-stressed environment for their families.
