Governor claims to have no post-term plans

Citing his movie and business experience, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger Tuesday explained why he doesn't know what he will do at the end of his term in 2010 -- and why he likes it that way.

``It would be boring if I knew what I would be doing four years from now,'' the governor told California reporters in Capitol Hill. ``That's why I did movies and didn't do a TV series, where you know what happens. I didn't want a safety net.''

Some California Republicans have speculated that the governor, one of the rare GOP candidates to win statewide, could take on Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer in 2010 or even run for mayor of Los Angeles.

``I have not thought about that,'' he insisted at a press conference. ``If I do a great job for California, there are millions of things I could do for 2010.''

Schwarzenegger, in Washington for a national governors' conference, finished his three-day trip with extensive meetings with Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-San Francisco, Sens. Boxer and Dianne Feinstein and members of the state's House delegation.

The governor, clearly enjoying his new national stature on issues such as health care, immigration and global warming, said he is planning several trips around the country ``not to chase presidential candidates'' but to make a pitch for ``being inclusive and working together to solve problems.''
