Governor’s Job Rating Climbs; Likability Low, Poll Finds
Republican Ernie Fletcher enjoys universal name recognition but is viewed unfavorably by nearly half of all voters as he seeks reelection, according to the Courier-Journals’ latest Bluegrass poll. At the same time, his job-approval rating has climbed significantly in the past 17 months. The poll found that the governor’s name recognition was 93% among voters questioned, and his job-approval rating has bounced back 9% points since a September 2005 poll, when he bottomed out at 38%. The latest poll found of all those surveyed, 47% approve of the job he is doing; but 49% of registered voters who recognized his name have an unfavorable opinion of him and 30% said they view him favorably.
The telephone poll, conducted February 8-14, questioned 801 adult Kentuckians and has a +/- 3.5% margin of error. (Louisville Courier-Journal, February 18, 2007) (HMF/3/23/07)
