STATE SELECTS WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST TO LEAD REGIONAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT EFFORT

The following information was released by the State of Indiana:

Brook Steed, a workforce development consultant and former city planner, will join the state's economic development team Mar. 17 as the director of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation's Northeast Regional office in Fort Wayne.

Steed joins the corporation from WorkOne Northeast where he served as a business consultant assisting companies with workforce development issues since January 2006.

"Brook's workforce development expertise and close ties to the communities in the Northeast corner of the state make him a valuable asset to our economic development efforts in the region," said Nathan Feltman, Secretary of Commerce and chief executive officer of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.

Steed served as the Angola city planner from 2001 to 2005 and as news director for Angola-based WLKI-FM from 1997 to 2001. He has also logged stints with Genesis Realty Group in Vevay, JandR Industrial Stamping in Madison and news radio operations in Kokomo and Columbus.

"Indiana continues to be a leader in retaining and attracting jobs and investment from companies here at home and around the world," Steed said. "I understand the workforce development and municipal components of economic development and look forward to being part of Indiana's continued record-breaking success and building upon the relationships that WorkOne Northeast and the IEDC have built in the region.''

Steed is a member of the Indiana Economic Development Association and serves as elder at SonLight Community Church in Angola. He is a past member of the Steuben County Economic Development Corporation board of directors, past president of the Steuben County United Way and Literacy Coalition and past member of the Northeast Indiana Workforce Investment board of directors.

Steed has completed the University of Oklahoma's Economic Development Institute and holds an Associate of Science in Broadcast Production from Vincennes University.
