For the People LLC, which will be Kentucky's largest fuel alcohol production plant, has chosen to build at Louisville's Riverport Development Complex, Gov. Ernie Fletcher and Economic Development Cabinet acting secretary Gene Fuqua announced Friday.

The company will construct a dry mill ethanol production plant to produce liquid ethanol biofuel from corn.

The 60,000-square-foot plant will cost $75 million and employ 60 full-time workers.

The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) preliminarily approved tax benefits up to $1.2 million for For the People under the Kentucky Industrial Development Act, an incentive program designed to attract and expand manufacturing operations in the state.

KEDFA also preliminarily approved $400,000 in benefits for the company under the Kentucky Enterprise Initiative Act, which allows companies investing $500,000 or more in the state to recoup Kentucky sales and use taxes on the cost of construction materials, building fixtures and research and development equipment.
