Supercomputer center at RPI to be unveiled
NORTH GREENBUSH - Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno, R-Brunswick, is scheduled to be at Rensselaer Technology Park in North Greenbush today as Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and IBM Corp. unveil their $100 million supercomputer center.
RPI President Shirley Ann Jackson and John Kelly, IBM's senior vice president of technology and intellectual property, will also be in attendance.
The RPI supercomputer will provide more than 100 teraflops of computing power when fully operational, which amounts to 15,000 calculations each second for every person in the world.
